Introduction
Workle ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our focus tracking application.
Information We Collect
Study Session Data
We collect data about your study sessions, including:
- Session duration and timing
- Focus scores and analysis
- Study topics and subjects
- Timelapse video recordings (uploaded to secure cloud storage for your access)
Camera & Focus Data
Workle uses your device camera during a session to estimate your focus. Face detection runs on your device and is used only to compute focus signals — it is not used to identify you. Frames are assembled into your timelapse. Individual frames are only uploaded off-device if you explicitly opt in to research participation; you can decline, and it is off by default.
Account & Contact Data
Your email address and authentication details, used to create and secure your account.
Subscription Data
Purchases are processed by Apple (App Store). We receive a subscription status and an anonymized purchase token to unlock premium features; we never receive your full payment card details.
Third-Party Services
We use a small set of trusted providers to run Workle. Each receives only the data needed for its function:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and encrypted storage of your sessions and videos.
- Apple — subscription billing and, if you enable them, notifications.
- PostHog — privacy-conscious product analytics (see below).
Analytics & Notifications
We use PostHog to understand how features are used and to improve the app. This includes app events and basic device information; we do not sell this data. If you enable notifications, we use them only to send reminders and let you know when a timelapse is ready. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
Data Retention
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete individual sessions in the app, or request full deletion of your account and data at any time (see "Your Rights"). On deletion, your videos and session data are removed from our storage.
Children's Privacy
Workle is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
How We Use Your Data
We use your data to:
- Provide focus analysis and insights
- Generate timelapse videos of your study sessions
- Track your progress and study patterns
- Improve our app's functionality and user experience
- Send you weekly reminders (if enabled)
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. We use Supabase for data storage and processing. As part of the video processing workflow, your timelapse videos are uploaded to secure cloud storage so you can access them from any device. Only you can access your videos; we do not share your videos with third parties.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal data to third parties. Your session videos are only accessible to you and are never shared without your explicit consent. We may share your data only in the following circumstances:
- With your explicit consent
- To comply with legal obligations
- To protect our rights and safety
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Opt out of notifications
- Export your data

If you are in the EU/UK, you have rights under the GDPR, including to object to or restrict processing and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority; our legal bases are your consent and performance of our contract with you. California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including to know and delete. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by those laws.
